Seattle and Olympic National Park

We arrived in the Seattle suburbs Wednesday evening and encountered our first real rain - of course! - that night. Thursday dawned gray and threatening, and despite our aversion to driving an RV through city streets, we decided to attempt a drive into Seattle on our way to the Olympic National Park peninsula. We lucked out on parking and spent a couple of hours walking around the southern part of the city, including an area called Pike Place Market, reminiscent of Boston's Quincy Market.

After a short stop for coffee in Gig Harbor (thank you, Teri!), we continued on to Olympic National Park overnight. Friday dawned foggy and rainy, so our views of the Olympic Mountains were limited, but we decided to take the drive into the national park up to Hurricane Ridge anyway (thanks again, Teri, for recommending it!). The first 10 miles or so of our ascent were enshrouded in fog, but the views at the top, though limited, werewell worth it!

The fog lifted as we descended down the mountain road after lunch...

...so that by the time we got on the Kingston to Edmunds ferry, we could look back at the mountain views we missed earlier in the day from Port Angeles.....

(P.S. More songs - remember "Victoria" by the Kinks?)
