Counting Down

Our plans were almost thwarted just ten days before our journey was to begin: John took off in the RV for a day trip to have a sway bar installed; he was about 70 miles from home when a wild turkey (love-struck, no doubt, as it was turkey mating season) decided to come along for the ride - right through the front windshield. John was not injured, but had to endure a 35 mile windshield-less drive through the countryside to the nearest Windshield World. Fortunately, they were able to replace the glass in short order while John took on the task of cleaning feathers, blood and glass out of the insided of the RV. We are trying NOT to take this as an omen of what lies ahead! If you know my 89 year-old father Stanley, please don't tell him about this incident, lest he worry the entire time we're gone that there are more wild turkeys around every corner just waiting to attack; I'll tell him myself when we're safely back from our trip.
